- African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO), an organization for women in leadership development, unveils her Miss AWLO Pageant 2018 as part of the events to mark AWLO’s 10th Anniversary in Abuja Nigeria coming July 2018.
Miss AWLO pageant experience is an opportunity for a young leader to emerge. It will sharpen the leadership skills of young women and provide opportunities for the young woman who will emerge as queen. She will leverage on the AWLO platform for experiential leadership development.
The founder of AWLO Dr. Elisha Attai explains, “Being the queen is like every day in a leader’s life. It will help her hone self-management, project and team management skills. And provide opportunities for self-development, etiquette, public speaking & appearance skills.”
“Miss AWLO is like the launching-pad of a leader. And an opportunity to be the ambassador of the organization”, he further reiterated.
AWLO which began plans for Miss AWLO in 2018, had set up a committee led by Mrs. Rosemary Okeke; Miss Nigeria 1985. Mrs. Okeke who is not new to the pageant experience, and member of AWLO is glad to team up with AWLO to put together an empowering experience for young women. She says; “We are looking for the Quintessential Woman set to redefine standards. A lady who is not only committed to being a better person but one who positively influences the lives of those she encounters. One whose beauty transcends the exterior. I am delighted to be a part of this empowering experience.”
AWLO opens up registration for the Pageant today via awlo.org/missawlopageant. The pageant is open to women of African descent internationally between ages 20 and 30. Applicants are required to complete online registration on or before 25th April 2018. International contestants will undergo an alternative auditions. But they will take part in the grand finale if they succeed. While applicants in Nigeria will attend auditions in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt before selection to be part of the finale.
Asides from a rewarding camp experience, there are prizes to win. First prize; A brand new Car, Five Hundred thousand (₦500,000) Naira, tour of selected African Countries, one-year AWLO Ambassadorial service with accommodation and other prizes. Second Prize; Three Hundred Thousand Naira plus other prizes. And Third Prize; One Hundred Thousand Naira plus other prizes.
